Teachers

The quality of higher education depends on many factors: educational programmes, organisation of the educational process, and teachers. In the university context, teachers’ competence has always been a determining factor, so it deserves a special attention.

Today, with the development of information technologies, educational innovations and internationalisation of education, the requirements for university teachers and their professional mobility are constantly growing. It is obvious that certification of a higher education institution ensures the adequate level of teacher’s competence.

Since 1997, the designation Higher School Teacher has been introduced in the Russian higher education system. This designation is granted after a successful completion of a special program and confirms a high level of teacher’s proficiency. This also provides recognition of teacher’s credentials that satisfy national requirements of the RF higher education.

Inclusion of a technical university lecturer into the IGIP register ensures lecturer’s competence and professional mobility both nationally and worldwide.

One of the most competent international organisations related to higher careers education is International Society for Engineering Education or Internationale Gesellschaft fur Igenieurpadagogic (IGIP). It grants the designation Engineering Higher School Teacher to teachers of European countries and a title of European Teacher of Engineering Higher School (ING-PAED IGIP).

Today, thousands of teachers from universities of different European countries are registered through the IGIP, including over 150 teachers from Russian universities. The National Monitoring Committee of IGIP and a number of centers which implement educational programmes for teachers of Russian higher education institutions are located In Russia. These programmes are designed to prepare teachers for awarding a certificate of the title of European Teacher of Engineering Higher School – “ING-PAEDIGIP”.
